Wild Print Riley for a Wild Girl

I’m beginning to wonder if my two daughters’ obsession with animal print is more than just a phase. I’m not an animal-print lover, and I kinda think half of why they love it is because they know I’m not a fan. Ornery girls! LOL

Despite my aversion to animal print, I’m happy to sew it for them since they’re more inclined to wear clothes made from prints they like. So when I spotted (haha) this leopard print knit, I knew my younger daughter would flip over it and I bought some just for her.

When little sis saw how comfy her big sister’s Riley Nightgowns looked, she informed me that she needed one, too. I made the nightgown according to her chest size, but forgot to take off some length because she’s shorter than average. Good thing she likes how long it is … I’ll just pretend I was pre-planning for that growth spurt that should be due any day now! 😉

This girl slays me with her “attitude.” She’s so much fun to photograph because she’s always got these super-silly posing ideas. She held this pose until I assured her that I had taken a picture and then she looked at the back of the camera and giggled and giggled and giggled.  I hope that everyone else’s kids enjoy their Riley’s Nightgown & Sleep Shirts as much as she does!

Happy Sewing!!  ~  Joelle

I have the same experience with animal prints, I have a strong dislike for them, but my middle child loves them. She saw a green leopard print at a fabric store last week and of course we came home with it. A nightgown is a great idea, but I already cut out a dress :).

My girls also each have a Four Seasons Cardi and the oldest has a California Dress and an Asymmetrical Drape Top, all in animal prints. They’ll grow out of liking it soon, right? That’s what I keep telling myself anyway! Haha 😉
