“Climate Change” California Dress

It’s no secret that the California Dress & Peplum is my favorite dress pattern that I’ve ever sewn for myself. I mean, the included options alone allow for two bodices, 6 different hem lengths, nursing modification, and maternity wear … So what’s not to love?!? I find myself looking for reasons to sew up more California Dresses! LOL

When I was reading over the prompts for the Top Stitcher Sew-a-long over on Pattern Revolution, I knew my California Cardi Sleeve Mash would fit perfectly into the “Climate Change” prompt. Bingo, I had an entry! I just HAD to make another California with the hack of adding the sleeves from the Four Seasons Cardigan. (Twist my arm, why don’t ya? lol)

I just adore how the California looks with sleeves! In case you missed how I did it last fall, you can read here all about how I changed the armscye so the Four Seasons sleeves would fit the scoop neck bodice. I chose to cut my sleeves just shorter than 3/4 length so that they’d hit closer to a half sleeve length. I considered making them full-length, but I always seem to be pushing sleeves up to my elbows anyway, no matter the weather. Half sleeves just made more sense (and saved a little fabric)! 😉

I hope you aren’t sick of seeing the large part of my wardrobe that is made from the California Dress & Peplum pattern, lol. Hey, at least it’s been on sale this past week so you have the chance to get your own copy at a discount and try it for yourself.

At the time I published this post, there is roughly 12 hours left to save 25% off the Women’s or the Girl’s or the Bundle of both size ranges with CALIFORNIASUMMER coupon code. Hurry over to the EYMM shop to get yours before the sale expires at 11:59pm PDT tonight (April 27)!

Happy Sewing!!  ~  Joelle
