Asymmetrical Drape Top + Everyday Yoga Pants = Perfection

Have you checked out the current Perfect Pattern Parcel yet? It includes the EYMM Girl’s Asymmetrical Drape Top and the Greenstyle Creations Girl’s Everyday Yoga Pants, which I think are a match made in heaven.

My 9-year-old has been begging me to make her something from this teal and brown leopard print knit ever since it arrived with my Girl Charlee bargain bundle. I decided that the Asymmetrical Drape Top would showcase it nicely because the gathered look on one side offers movement to the fabric without many seams to break up the print.

As she nears becoming a pre-teen, my daughter is getting pickier about what she wears (thank goodness for school uniforms eliminating arguments every day, haha). That’s part of why I love EYMM patterns. They allow me to make her trendy looks that we both approve of, without making my little girl look like a full-blown teenager … cause I’m not ready for that yet!

My daughter also recently requested some comfy pants. So when I saw that the Greenstyle Everyday Yoga Pants were part of the parcel, I thought they’d do nicely. I love that these pants fit well without being too snug, since I’m firmly in the “leggings aren’t pants” camp.

The pattern includes cutting lines for shorts, capris, and full length. In full disclosure, though, this length is not one of those choices. I was upcycling a black tee and this was the longest I could fit on the shirt in order to re-use the existing hem for the bottom of the pant legs. They’re about 7-8 inches shorter than the capri length cutting line.

Since I ran out of t-shirt, I made the fold over waistband from the leopard print fabric. My daughter was sure she wouldn’t like the fold over, but now she claims they are the most comfortable pants she’s ever worn. She’s even “ordered” several more pair … with matching shirts, of course.

I couldn’t believe how quickly these two patterns came together. I made them at the same time and, from printing the patterns to finishing the last hem, I had them both done in less than 4 hours (and that includes several short breaks that I had to take because my two smallest boys were needing my attention). As fast as they went, I’ll happily fulfill my girl’s request for more and throw in a set or two for her sister as well!

Perfect Pattern Parcel is a great opportunity to buy a “perfect” collection of .pdf patterns and contribute to a good cause while you’re at it. You get to choose the price you feel comfortable with and it is split between the pattern designers, Perfect Pattern Parcel expenses, and charity. Part of the proceeds from every sale are donated through Donors Choose, where United States public school teachers can request donations for needed classroom supplies.

Along with the EYMM Girl’s Asymmetrical Drape Top and the Greenstyle Girl’s Everyday Yoga Pants, Parcel #5 also includes Peek-a-Boo Patterns Lily Knit Blazer, Fishsticks Designs Playhouse Dress, and the Filles a Maman Mimi Dress. If you choose a price of $28 or higher, you’ll also receive Figgy’s Sunki Dress (and the price per pattern would still be under $5 each). The size ranges on all these patterns make the collection a great addition to almost any girl’s wardrobe.

Don’t wait too long to add Parcel #5 to your collection! It is only available for another week, as the current sale ends October 3. More details can be found on the Perfect Pattern Parcel website.

Happy sewing!!  ~ Joelle
