For those of you that are new to my blog I love particpating in the Sewing Mamas big Stash Game (SG) a few times a year. The point is to sew up as much yardage as possible from your fabric stash without buying more. It has really helped put a dent in my fabric stash & my project list in the past.
Anyways I like to kick off each SG by staying up late & start sewing after midnight! Well B & I finished watch Star Gate Atlantis around 12:10? Perfect timing :). I was actually ironing more fabric while we were watching it.
Anyways last summer I told my ex I would make some bedding for the kids at his house since I made Zander an awesome tractor set for his room at my house. I bought the fabric & have been looking at it for the last year! I have meant to tackle in past SG’s, but never got there because I washed it & never ironed it! Anyways he has since moved Zander from a toddler bed to a twin size bed. SO I had to redo my plan a bit, but between the sheet, pillow case & curtains I managed to use up all the yardage of the black cars fabric I had which is a extra goal for SG.
Anyways I got the whole set cut out, but I only finished the curtains. I think they took an hour total including all the hemming (I HATE hemming!) Each curtain used 1 1/4 yards of fabric each so 2.5 for the pair (3/4 of the light & 1/2 of the dark on each). This isn’t a great picture, and I don’t car for the fabric combo, but Zander loves it and that is all that really matters! each yard is worth 8 points… so the pair is worth 20 points. Not a ton, but a good start!
Good start on the game! I decided not to participate since we are now finally doing our basement. My sewing is set up in the dining room and I just don’t have the room to do it. Plus, I cut out a bunch of stuff before I folded up my cutting table, so all the stuff I have ready to sew would get minor points for UFO’s. *sigh*
Yeah I totally get that! It has been a few SG’s since I have really participated, but I got a new sewing room & tons of projects that just need to get DONE! lol
