My 1st Purse!

posted in: Sewing, Tutorials | 4

So I have made totes before out of all sorts of things & all shapes & sizes. I have been eying some different cute little hand bags & purses lately because the twins are 1 now & I don’t really use diaper bags anymore.

Anyways I came across this yesterday, not sure HOW, I think I was googling ‘child’s apron neck strap length’!!!

Being the sewer I am cut out the pattern & decided to wing it. Well being half with it, I sewed it together wrong… but thats okay though, I fixed it & put french seams on the tops of the straps. That being said its fully reversible & I am loving it! I see many more of these in my future!

The pattern & directions came from the Martha Stewart website & can be found here…

    Hello,
I liked her purse reversible, and I would like to make one for me, I have the pattern printed on the page of “Martha Stewart” but I have to expand very large, could please tell me the steps of her purse to adapt my pattern.

Thank you very much for your kindness

I cut the print out into 4 pieces… then I put each piece on my scanner/photo copier & printed them out at 150-200% I think (it’s been a while so you may have to try it a few times). Anyways then I cut them all out & taped them together! Hope that helps.

Thanks for introducing me to this tutorial. This was my first purse too and it turned out great! I made mine much smaller though because I was giving it to my niece.
